Proper Job Set-Up - continued

Physical preparation is very important to a safe work day. If you have not properly
prepared your body for the physical demands of your job, you will eventually have an injury. Proper physical
preparation includes: getting enough sleep.

Sleep is essential for providing the down time our bodies need to make
repairs to the damage caused by day to day wear and tear.
Eating a good diet aids in this repair
process in addition to restoring the body’s energy stores. Adequate hydration is also essential for proper
body function. It restores blood levels, helps lubricate muscles and joints and even aids in sleep.
Stretching and
exercise help warm up muscles before work. This helps make muscles and connective tissues more flexible and
resistant to tearing.
