Safe Work Methods Training

Proper Job Set-Up - continued

Proper footwear is critical. At SST, we move freight. That means that great stress can be put on feet, ankles, knees, hips and backs. Good footwear supports all of these areas. We also work in areas where there is exposure to slippery surfaces. Proper footwear has solid, slip-resistant soles.

Cowboy boots are an example of improper footwear. They provide little support for the foot and no support for ankles, knees or backs. Their soles are slippery leather.

Well-fitted solid work shoes or boots are the best alternative for protecting and supporting your feet and body.

Tennis shoes are tempting to wear because of their weight, but they do not support adequately.

Flip flops, sandals and any other open type of foot wear are forbidden in the work place.
